JKA England Four Nations Cup 2012

Competitors from JKA Karate Do Shotokan (Scotland) travelled to the Exel Leisure Centre in Walton on Thames for the Four Nations Cup which included competitors from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
There were individual events in Kata and Kumite for all grades in various age group categories. It was a very busy day with 6 areas being used almost continuously throughout the day and into early evening.
The event was exceptionally well organised and ran smoothly. Thanks to the events team of Rodger Fabri and Technical Administration Jeni Cousins, Chief Referee Angelo Sanna along with all the other referees, judges, timekeepers and first aiders who helped make the day such a success.
Special honourable guest from the Japanese Embassy was First Secretary Mr. Watanabe EiJi who presented the medals at the presentation ceremony.
It turned out to be a successful day for our association with 12 medals being won.

JKA England Course September 2012, Crawley, London

travelled to Crawley London to attend the JKA England September 2012
course. The 3 day course was held from Friday 28thth September to Sunday
30th September at the K2 Sports Centre Crawley with a JKA Dan grading
on the Sunday following training. The course instructors for the 3 days

The training course was well attended
with many JKA students from various countries attending. It was a great
opportunity to train with such high quality instructors.
JKA Scotland Medal Success
JKA Junior European Championships
Paris, France 2nd – 3rd June 2012
After a lot of hard training and squad sessions in preparation, JKA Karate Do Shotokan (Scotland) junior squad members travelled to Paris France as part of the JKA Scotland Squad to take part in the JKA Junior European championships which were held over the weekend of Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd June.

There was a large turn out of competitors from all around Europe participating over the 2 days. The weekend saw good results for the JKA Scotland team with a number of medal places being achieved including a Gold medal.

JKA England Course May 2012 Crawley London

The 4 day course was held from Friday 4thth May to Monday 7th May at the
K2 Sports Centre Crawley with a JKA Dan grading on the Sunday following
training. The course instructors for the 4 days were:

JKA European Championships March 2012
Prague, Czech Republic
This years JKA European Championships were held in Prauge, Czech Republic on Saturday 31st March 2012 at the Arena Sparta Sports Stadium. The JKA Scotland squad travelled to Prague on the Thursday as did many of the European Teams two days prior to the competition to prepare. This included final Squad training sessions in Prague before the event itself on Saturday.
The day of the Championships saw an early start with the JKA Scotland Squad leaving their hotel at 7-15am on one of the official Championship coaches to travel to the venue in time for the 8-30am start.

There were many European countries in attendance with Senior and Cadet (16-21 years) events in Kata and Kumite being held. The eliminations were held during the day on six areas with the finals being held in the evening on three areas.
With the top competitors from each country taking part the standard on display was very high. There were some good performances from the JKA Scotland competitors with medal success being gained by the JKA Scotland Junior (16-21 years) Kumite Team making it to a joint 3rd place medal position.

JKA Karate Do Shotokan (Scotland) Association Championships
Saturday 10th March 2012
JKA Karate Do Shotokan (Scotland)’s association annual championships were held on Saturday 10th March at the Queen Anne High School Dunfermline. Senior and junior competitors from all around Scotland travelled to the event to take part in the various Kumite and Kata events that were being held over the day.
Following the arrival and entry of competitors and spectators into the arena the KDS 2012 Championships commenced just after 9-30 am with a short opening ceremony. There were various Kata and Kumite event categories according to grade and age with events being run concurrently throughout the day. The events started with junior kyu grade kata leading up to senior Dan grade Kata which was then followed by the Kumite events. Once all elimination events were completed there was a short break followed by the start of the finals.
A number of the competitors taking part are members of the JKA Scotland Squad and were using the event as preparation prior to the 2012 JKA European championships which are to be held in Prague.
Thanks to all competitors who took part and to the spectators for your support. Thanks also to the referees and officials who gave up their time to make sure the long day ran smoothly.
