JKA Scotland would like to welcome Sensei Paul Luckhoff 3rd Dan JKA to the South/West Region of our Association.
Paul started karate in 1986 in South Africa with the then known SKI Karate, under late sensei Nigel Jackson which later changed its affiliation to WSKF. He joined SA (South Africa) JKA in 1993 led under Sensei Stan Schmidt who graded Paul to Shodan in 1995. After University, his career took him to remote locations and training became very difficult which led to an absence until he moved back to Stellenbosch South Africa, and re-joined his previous JKA club. There he then proceeded to grade for his Nidan in 2015 under Sensei Johan Le Grange and his Sandan in 2019 under Sensei Dave Friend. He was assistant instructor at Stellenbosch for 5 years. Paul’s son, joined in 2019 and started his karate career aged 6. At the end of 2019 his family relocated to Kilninver by Oban. Feeling passionate and seeing the need for more activities for the kids in the area and to have his own little boy continue to grow in his karate and his youngest to start, he made the decision to start the club in the village of Kilmelford.
